Kashmiri Chicken (Ayam Kashmir)

On Monday, I was showing symptoms of flu. When I woke up in the morning, I was coughing and sneezing badly. Felt a little bit breathless too.  What made it worse was the fact that Suhaym kept waking up the night before which in turn hindered my much needed rest and sleep. I was very tired and felt slightly ill but I went to work anyway hoping that the symptoms would go away once I had taken some leftover medicine from my previous doctor visit.

Super Easy Recipe Prata Pops (Resepi Mudah Pop Prata)

For the first time, on a Sunday afternoon, I was so bored.  My Sundays were usually very occupied with the two precious boys of my life and one very old boy whom I love very much.  It was about one hour after lunch.  My husband and Sayf were both napping on the bed.  Suhaym was napping as usual.  My kitchen-ing assistant was folding the dried laundry.  My mother-in-law was in her room.  As for me?  I was sitting down at the dining table staring in the air....

Beef Soup (Sop Daging Lembu)

Enough of curries!  It is time for something soupy.  Enough of chicken!  It is time for some beef.  So over the weekend, yesterday, I made some beef soup.  It was just nice for my kitchen-ing assistant who caught the flu.  She had dizziness to the point of fainting.  I was scared out of my wits.  Could I have overworked her?  Nope, I did not.

Sevadeekap Chicken (Ayam Sevadeekap)

Yes, I was getting bored in the kitchen and I played with my food last Wednesday evening! :p  If you had been here for a while, you would know that I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen and doing up new recipes and the fact that I am a half breed (half Indian, half Malay) hehe ;p, I sometimes like to fuse my cooking style.  I have incorporated the elements of Malay cooking and Indian cooking by using some of the ingredients used in Thai cooking except that I did not have fresh basil leaves in the fridge which I had therefore had to make do without.  After I have had my fun with the food, the end result was what I decided to call Sevadeekap Chicken.

Kurma Rice (Nasi Kurma)

As I mentioned the other day, I had cooked the "powerful" Indian Chicken Curry and ate it with Kurma Rice.  I was actually tired of eating white rice and thought I would cook something different to go with the chicken curry.  However, there were some ingredients which I had to do without as there was nothing much left in my fridge.  That meant it was time to do some serious marketing.  Therefore, my Kurma Rice was very rugged that day.  Nevertheless, it had my husband singing my praises.  Honestly, that made all the effort in the kitchen very much worth the while for us, don't you agree?

Powerful Indian Chicken Curry (Kari Ayam India Power)

Hehe...that's what my husband said.  This is a powerful chicken curry.  You just can't get enough of it.  I cooked this over the weekend.  Had it with another signature of mine, Kurma Rice.  Of course, the recipe for the rice will be up in my next post.  I have tried cooking chicken curry in many ways, varying the ingredients here and there and I finally settled with this one.  The ultimate of all my chicken curries.  I have not cooked it in any other way ever since as this is the way that my husband loves it most.

Bibik's Fried Rice (Nasi Goreng Bibik)

Last Saturday, we went to the zoo.  It's been quite a while that we have been anywhere at all just for the purposes of having fun.  I must say that it is only now that we have felt very fully settled down in our new home and that we have started scheduling some outings and fun times with both Sayf and Suhaym as we usually did and lead life as per normal.

Fish Kurma (Version 2) (Kurma Ikan (Versi 2))

Hello Cooks!  Yesterday evening, I cooked fish kurma again.  The different version which I had promised to share in my earlier Mackerel Kurma post.  Needless to say, I cooked my favourite fish again, mackerel!   Hehe...;p However, it was quite a rushed cooking session as Suhaym wasn't cooperative at all.  He was just clinging like a Koala to me.  I have never felt so disorganised whilst cooking.  Adding on to my stress, Sayf was simply testing my patience in the kitchen.  I really felt like smacking his butt!  Sometimes I really don't have room to breathe when I reach home after work.  It just makes me feel that being in the office is less stressful than being at home.  I love my babies, I really do, but sometimes I can just go crazy and I have people asking me if I am going to try for number three! :)

Chicken in Spiced Soy Sauce (Ayam Masak Kicap Berempah)

Hello Cooks!  It's a rainy morning.  I am sleepy and tired as my second one, Suhaym kept waking up yesterday night.  I would be more chatty if I am not a zombie today.  All I can say is let the pics tempt you cos this recipe is a must try.

Stir Fried Water Spinach with Shrimp Paste (Kangkung Goreng Belacan)

My favourite vegetable!  Water spinach!  Stir Fried with Shrimp Paste!  Easy and yummy!  Too yummy that Sayf attempted eating it even though just a tiny bit.  For a  three  and a half year old to want to eat and swallow green vegetables no matter how little is quite an accomplishment. This has got to be real good.  A good friend of mine requested that I posted this recipe.  Here you go, Shah!

Cat Fish in Spiced Tamarind Gravy (Asam Pedas Ikan Duri)

This was what I cooked on Sunday.  A traditional and most common dish amongst the Malays, "Asam Pedas" or in a more direct translation would be Spiced Tamarind Gravy.  However, most Chinese in Singapore would call this dish as "Asam Fish".  This dish is mostly cooked with fish.  Although it is suitable with any kinds of fish but it goes best with cat fish, stingray or mackerel.  In addition, the taste is sometimes enhanced with laksa leaves or vietnamese mint which is known as "daun kesum" in Malay.  This is heaven for most!!

How to Treat Burns from Oil Splatter on Skin (Bagaimana Merawat Percikan Minyak Panas Pada Kulit)

Haha!  Surprised?  Yes, this is kitchen tip from my mother.  She uses Vicks VapoRub for almost everything.  Aches, pains and even burns!  Always have Vicks VapoRub in your kitchen!  Being a cook in the kitchen always subjects us to kitchen hazards!  One of the most common hazards is oil splatters on the hands and if you are unlucky enough, on the face!!

Javanese Vegetable Fritters @ Bakwan (Cucur Sayur Jawa @ Bakwan)

Hello again Cooks!  Monday is here again.  Everybody is back at work.  The weekend came and went with a blink of an eye.  I don't remember the days passing by so fast when I was little.  It took forever to wait for myself to grow up and go out to work.  Now when I look at my second boy Suhaym, I cannot believe that he is turning one next month.  I thought I just gave birth to him a few months back.  All of a sudden, I realised that I am growing older faster than I thought. I shall spare you (and myself) the horrific details! ;p

Sardines in Bird's Eye Coconut Cream (Sardin Masak Lemak Cili Padi)

Hello Cooks!  Today is quite a cloudy Saturday in Singapore.  No sun and no rain, yet! Hubby has to work the whole day today as there is quite a big project going on at work.  My mother in law is out.  I am at home with the two kids and my kitchen-ing assistant.  Later in the evening, I will be out for yet another good friend's wedding dinner.  I shall bring the other man in my life, Sayf, as a company for the evening.  I am looking forward to meet the rest of my good friends again. I am sure the dinner session would be filled with much fun and laughter.

What the Huh!?! (Eh Apa Dah!?!)

To the One who leaves a nasty comment on my Chicken Kurma post!

I blog about cooking because I want people to enjoy food the way I do.  I blog about cooking because I have younger sisters who would be married in the near future and would need to cook for their husbands and families.  I blog about cooking because there are so many ways to cooking one dish and maybe someone somewhere wants to try to cook a particular dish using a new recipe.  I blog about cooking because there are so many other youngsters out there who might want to learn how to cook.  I blog about cooking because I think I have something useful to offer to others out there.  I blog about cooking because there are mothers, wives, sisters, daughters and some men out there who may benefit from the recipes that are being posted on my blog.  I blog about cooking because yes, I do know how to cook and I like to cook!  What is wrong with that?!
And my blog is in English?  What is wrong with English?  It is a universal language!  Not everybody who eats Malay food speaks Malay. Most Malays can read in English.  There are many other cooking blogs that share recipes in the Malay language.  My blog is for those who want to learn Malay cooking but could not read in Malay and for other Malays who want to check out new recipes.  Google translations sometimes make it more confusing than reading the original language!
What is wrong with me?  I don’t care if I get famous or not so long as my blog is of some use and purpose to the few who appreciate it.  I appreciate my own blog very much.  Makes me proud of how much good food I have eaten…and what a beautiful supermodel I am...hehe!  ;p (dear hater, don't be jealous!) If you want to know how much of a supermodel I am, let's meet up and be friends. You can try and carry me. He he...

My blog is for me to record my own kitchen-ing experiences which is meant for me to read.  It still can be of some help and use for those who need it.  If no one wants to read the blog, then don’t.  I don’t mind being the only one who reads it.  Still am thankful for the 18,000 over page views!  I am doing better than I ever thought I would ever did.  My sisters will read my blog when they need to cook one day.  I know I leave something behind to be read or maybe just stared at during sob-sob stories when I finally die someday.  I do what makes me happy!  If you are not happy, go and buy some chocolates and stuff your mouth with it.  Just put yourself to some good use.  Stop trying very hard to make me miserable because you ain’t gonna!  I am still going to do what I have been doing no matter what!
Before you leave a nasty comment on my blog, ask yourself if it is really necessary.  Be my friend and get to know me.  Don't be mean.

Tilah's Chicken Kurma (Kurma Ayam Tilah)

Hello fellow Cooks!  How was your day yesterday?  My day was good because it was a sunny day! So sunny that I had to squint my eyes while walking on my way to lunch with a colleague yesterday.  It's a nice change after a few days of heavy rain.

Scrambled Eggs (Telur Kocok)

This was breakfast last Saturday.  My favourite.  We were supposed to go to McDonald's for a family breakfast but we had to give it a miss as I wasn't feeling well.  Sometimes, during weekends, we go to McDonald's for breakfast because Sayf likes going there just for the sake of eating in the McDonald's restaurant which he called in his cute three words "Mad-Dog-Nald".  I hope the McDonalds are not very mad!  Hehe! ;p  Sayf is still working on his phonics skills.

Beef in Toasted Coconut Gravy (Daging Kerisik)

This is another recipe which I love.  A favourite in my family.  I jotted this recipe on a piece of paper very long time ago.  I cannot remember the source and ever since I started blogging, the only thing I regretted was that I have many recipes on archive in my computer and jotted down on papers but some of them had no indication of the name of the person from whom I got the recipe or the source from which I got the recipe.  Being young and unmarried then, all I had thought of was to archive or jot down for my own use when I am married and have my own kitchen to cook for my future husband and children.  Never did I thought I would develop an interest to blog about cooking.  Thank you to whoever you are and I am so grateful.

Off the Floor! (Tidak Mencecah Lantai!) was my title?  Cool right?  It's not JLO's song.  It's MY song.  Off the Floor!
