Steamed Palm Sugar Cakes (Kuih Kaswi)

Hello Cooks!  It had been quite an enjoyable past few days.  I decided to take a few days break from blogging and spend my few days totally smothered by the three lover boys of my life.  We didn't do anything much except that we were happily eating away as usual, frolicking on the sofa watching our favourite horror and thriller movies.  Of course not all is sweet and merry when you have your toddler and your baby getting cranky at different times of the day and you had to find your way around trying to calm them down and enjoy whatever was left in the remaining part of lazing around but all in all, yes, spending quality time with the kids and entertaining them at their whims and fancies is really worth the while though it can sometimes be quite tiresome.  Still, these are the treasured moments that I will never get to enjoy anymore once the kids are all grown in the future.

Lasagna

Hello Cooks!  Yes! It's pasta all the way.  Not forgetting cheesy too!  So much so that last Saturday, my husband bought me the Ogawa EZ Tone so that I could fit some fitness workout into my lifestyle and wobble those clingy fats away!  I sure hope it works cos I have wobbled twice for about 20 mins each time.  It made me felt like I am shimming away in a belly dance number.  (Pssst!  Nice way to get the hubby's attention ladies! Heehee...;p) Don't want to be too hard on myself first else I'll find it a pain but I did find the effects a bit lightening on my body.  Easier to move around.  If it does work and I managed to shed some kilos, I will tell you more about it.  I will even post my before and after photos.  Till then, it will just have to be a wait and see.

Spaghetti Beef Aglio Olio

Hello my fellow Cooks!  Today is a busy Monday.  So I am just going to share a very simple recipe in a simple post!  I cooked this over Saturday whilst waiting for my husband to arrive from work.  We then had a chop-chop lunch before leaving for a family outing and shopping session followed by a good dinner outside.

Fishball Soup with Egg and Tofu (Sop Bebola Ikan dengan Telur dan Tofu)

Hello Cooks!  Life has been busy and tiring the past few days. Suhaym was extremely clingy.  Maybe because he just turned one and is maybe experiencing what is called as "separation anxiety".  He just wants to be carried.  He enjoys it when I cuddle and kiss and tickle him!  His laughter makes everyone else in the house started laughing too.

Am I Really Thankful?

Vietnamese Refugee Children

Yesterday, I was looking at both my sons after they fell asleep. They were deep in slumber. Their faces were full of peace and they looked so comfortable. Life couldn’t have been happier for me seeing my kids live their innocent lives to the fullest happily. Life is peaceful and quiet. At that moment, life felt like heaven. That is how heaven must have been. It must have been full of beauty, serenity and calm.

Baked Fusilli with Sausage (Fusilli dan Sosej Bakar)

Baked Pasta

Hello Cooks!  How was your weekend?  I hope you had a good one.  Otherwise, cook something nice and eat! Hehe...that always helps!  As for me, I made Baked Fusilli with Sausage last Sunday. Every once in a while, I do try to go Western when I really want some change in the menu. I really dare not venture too far however because I was afraid my mother-in-law would not be able to enjoy the food if she is not used to the taste. Pasta would be somewhat safe and acceptable. She had it a few times and she has ever cooked Spaghetti Bolognese.

Masala Chicken (Ayam Masala)

One of the things that I really hate going through after being a Mum is heartbreak whenever I had to leave for work in the morning and my two babies were crying for me.  Being the emotional person that I always am, I felt so choked in my throat and my feet felt heavy.  I think my feet must have felt heavier than my "SUPER"model sized body.  It doesn't happen everyday but when it did happen, it really spoiled my morning.

Mackerel in Bird's Eye Coconut Cream (Tenggiri Masak Lemak Cili Padi)

Even though I have not fully recovered from my illness, I am very much better than last week.  However it has been raining almost daily in Singapore and for people with asthma like me, this simply means bad news.  I will have to be prepared that my asthma attacks are on standby, waiting for the right moment to hit me whenever I am careless and neglect preventive measures.  Since I can be quite forgetful when it comes to taking my medicines, I will have to make sure that I set reminders on my phone to take my meds.

Mughlai Biryani (Biryani Mughlai)

So, it is a left inner ear imbalance that has aggravated symptoms whenever I am unwell.  That explains the dizziness that I kept having whenever I am ill all these years.  Over the recent flu and asthma attack, I felt like a pregnant woman all over again.  Dizziness and nausea. To the point of fainting.  Initially, I was told that there could be ear imbalance.  Well whatever it is, both my ears are at the same level when I looked in the mirror.  Nothing imbalanced externally.  It was only after the visit to the ear nose and throat specialist that I understood the problem that I have.  I was let off with a few head exercises that I need to do regularly in the hopes of relieving my symptoms in time to come.  Otherwise, I'll just have to keep taking the medicines when the symptoms are on a full blast attack.  The bad news is that a bad ear is forever a bad ear.  There is no cure to it.

Yellowtail Scad with Salted Beans (Ikan Selar Masak Taucu)

Hello Cooks!  I may not be updating so often for the next few days.  Honestly, I have been unwell.  Very unwell.  Dizziness and asthma.  Both decided to pay me a visit at one go and has made no plans of flying back home.  The cold weather makes it worse.  I am so tormented!  I could not even spend much quality time with my two lover boys!  Sulky sulky :(  Be that as it may, I still cannot stop myself from cooking.  My passion.  My way of de-stressing myself and making myself happy which would not have been possible at all for me if I had not had my kitchen-ing assistant assisting me.  Thanks very much to her!  I am so blessed.

Oelek Grilled Fish (Ikan Bakar Oelek)

Still recovering from asthma, I am back to basics yet again.  Still panting whenever I strained myself so I try to limit the work that I do in the kitchen.  However, I had been thinking of my Oelek Grilled Fish for days so I thought of grilling some fish and  that would have meant I wanted to cook, sick or not!  Besides, Oelek Grilled Fish is quite simple and easy to make.  Not so much work needed.  My husband drove me to the market yesterday morning and I bought some yellowtail scad and my all time favourite, mackerel.

Soy Sauce Anchovies (Ikan Bilis Masak Kicap)

Simplicity at its best.  When I am totally not in the mood for anything elaborated or complicated, I usually go back to basics.  The dish that was ever so common to my siblings and I during our childhood days but never failed to satisfy us at each and every meal.  We grew up with it!

Kashmiri Chicken (Ayam Kashmir)

On Monday, I was showing symptoms of flu. When I woke up in the morning, I was coughing and sneezing badly. Felt a little bit breathless too.  What made it worse was the fact that Suhaym kept waking up the night before which in turn hindered my much needed rest and sleep. I was very tired and felt slightly ill but I went to work anyway hoping that the symptoms would go away once I had taken some leftover medicine from my previous doctor visit.

Super Easy Recipe Prata Pops (Resepi Mudah Pop Prata)

For the first time, on a Sunday afternoon, I was so bored.  My Sundays were usually very occupied with the two precious boys of my life and one very old boy whom I love very much.  It was about one hour after lunch.  My husband and Sayf were both napping on the bed.  Suhaym was napping as usual.  My kitchen-ing assistant was folding the dried laundry.  My mother-in-law was in her room.  As for me?  I was sitting down at the dining table staring in the air....

Beef Soup (Sop Daging Lembu)

Enough of curries!  It is time for something soupy.  Enough of chicken!  It is time for some beef.  So over the weekend, yesterday, I made some beef soup.  It was just nice for my kitchen-ing assistant who caught the flu.  She had dizziness to the point of fainting.  I was scared out of my wits.  Could I have overworked her?  Nope, I did not.

Sevadeekap Chicken (Ayam Sevadeekap)

Yes, I was getting bored in the kitchen and I played with my food last Wednesday evening! :p  If you had been here for a while, you would know that I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen and doing up new recipes and the fact that I am a half breed (half Indian, half Malay) hehe ;p, I sometimes like to fuse my cooking style.  I have incorporated the elements of Malay cooking and Indian cooking by using some of the ingredients used in Thai cooking except that I did not have fresh basil leaves in the fridge which I had therefore had to make do without.  After I have had my fun with the food, the end result was what I decided to call Sevadeekap Chicken.

Kurma Rice (Nasi Kurma)

As I mentioned the other day, I had cooked the "powerful" Indian Chicken Curry and ate it with Kurma Rice.  I was actually tired of eating white rice and thought I would cook something different to go with the chicken curry.  However, there were some ingredients which I had to do without as there was nothing much left in my fridge.  That meant it was time to do some serious marketing.  Therefore, my Kurma Rice was very rugged that day.  Nevertheless, it had my husband singing my praises.  Honestly, that made all the effort in the kitchen very much worth the while for us, don't you agree?

Powerful Indian Chicken Curry (Kari Ayam India Power)

Hehe...that's what my husband said.  This is a powerful chicken curry.  You just can't get enough of it.  I cooked this over the weekend.  Had it with another signature of mine, Kurma Rice.  Of course, the recipe for the rice will be up in my next post.  I have tried cooking chicken curry in many ways, varying the ingredients here and there and I finally settled with this one.  The ultimate of all my chicken curries.  I have not cooked it in any other way ever since as this is the way that my husband loves it most.

Bibik's Fried Rice (Nasi Goreng Bibik)

Last Saturday, we went to the zoo.  It's been quite a while that we have been anywhere at all just for the purposes of having fun.  I must say that it is only now that we have felt very fully settled down in our new home and that we have started scheduling some outings and fun times with both Sayf and Suhaym as we usually did and lead life as per normal.

Fish Kurma (Version 2) (Kurma Ikan (Versi 2))

Hello Cooks!  Yesterday evening, I cooked fish kurma again.  The different version which I had promised to share in my earlier Mackerel Kurma post.  Needless to say, I cooked my favourite fish again, mackerel!   Hehe...;p However, it was quite a rushed cooking session as Suhaym wasn't cooperative at all.  He was just clinging like a Koala to me.  I have never felt so disorganised whilst cooking.  Adding on to my stress, Sayf was simply testing my patience in the kitchen.  I really felt like smacking his butt!  Sometimes I really don't have room to breathe when I reach home after work.  It just makes me feel that being in the office is less stressful than being at home.  I love my babies, I really do, but sometimes I can just go crazy and I have people asking me if I am going to try for number three! :)

Chicken in Spiced Soy Sauce (Ayam Masak Kicap Berempah)

Hello Cooks!  It's a rainy morning.  I am sleepy and tired as my second one, Suhaym kept waking up yesterday night.  I would be more chatty if I am not a zombie today.  All I can say is let the pics tempt you cos this recipe is a must try.

Wednesday, 13 November 2013

Stir Fried Water Spinach with Shrimp Paste (Kangkung Goreng Belacan)

My favourite vegetable!  Water spinach!  Stir Fried with Shrimp Paste!  Easy and yummy!  Too yummy that Sayf attempted eating it even though just a tiny bit.  For a  three  and a half year old to want to eat and swallow green vegetables no matter how little is quite an accomplishment. This has got to be real good.  A good friend of mine requested that I posted this recipe.  Here you go, Shah!

Tuesday, 12 November 2013

Cat Fish in Spiced Tamarind Gravy (Asam Pedas Ikan Duri)

This was what I cooked on Sunday.  A traditional and most common dish amongst the Malays, "Asam Pedas" or in a more direct translation would be Spiced Tamarind Gravy.  However, most Chinese in Singapore would call this dish as "Asam Fish".  This dish is mostly cooked with fish.  Although it is suitable with any kinds of fish but it goes best with cat fish, stingray or mackerel.  In addition, the taste is sometimes enhanced with laksa leaves or vietnamese mint which is known as "daun kesum" in Malay.  This is heaven for most!!

How to Treat Burns from Oil Splatter on Skin (Bagaimana Merawat Percikan Minyak Panas Pada Kulit)

Haha!  Surprised?  Yes, this is kitchen tip from my mother.  She uses Vicks VapoRub for almost everything.  Aches, pains and even burns!  Always have Vicks VapoRub in your kitchen!  Being a cook in the kitchen always subjects us to kitchen hazards!  One of the most common hazards is oil splatters on the hands and if you are unlucky enough, on the face!!

Javanese Vegetable Fritters @ Bakwan (Cucur Sayur Jawa @ Bakwan)

Hello again Cooks!  Monday is here again.  Everybody is back at work.  The weekend came and went with a blink of an eye.  I don't remember the days passing by so fast when I was little.  It took forever to wait for myself to grow up and go out to work.  Now when I look at my second boy Suhaym, I cannot believe that he is turning one next month.  I thought I just gave birth to him a few months back.  All of a sudden, I realised that I am growing older faster than I thought. I shall spare you (and myself) the horrific details! ;p

Sardines in Bird's Eye Coconut Cream (Sardin Masak Lemak Cili Padi)

Hello Cooks!  Today is quite a cloudy Saturday in Singapore.  No sun and no rain, yet! Hubby has to work the whole day today as there is quite a big project going on at work.  My mother in law is out.  I am at home with the two kids and my kitchen-ing assistant.  Later in the evening, I will be out for yet another good friend's wedding dinner.  I shall bring the other man in my life, Sayf, as a company for the evening.  I am looking forward to meet the rest of my good friends again. I am sure the dinner session would be filled with much fun and laughter.

What the Huh!?! (Eh Apa Dah!?!)

To the One who leaves a nasty comment on my Chicken Kurma post!

I blog about cooking because I want people to enjoy food the way I do.  I blog about cooking because I have younger sisters who would be married in the near future and would need to cook for their husbands and families.  I blog about cooking because there are so many ways to cooking one dish and maybe someone somewhere wants to try to cook a particular dish using a new recipe.  I blog about cooking because there are so many other youngsters out there who might want to learn how to cook.  I blog about cooking because I think I have something useful to offer to others out there.  I blog about cooking because there are mothers, wives, sisters, daughters and some men out there who may benefit from the recipes that are being posted on my blog.  I blog about cooking because yes, I do know how to cook and I like to cook!  What is wrong with that?!
And my blog is in English?  What is wrong with English?  It is a universal language!  Not everybody who eats Malay food speaks Malay. Most Malays can read in English.  There are many other cooking blogs that share recipes in the Malay language.  My blog is for those who want to learn Malay cooking but could not read in Malay and for other Malays who want to check out new recipes.  Google translations sometimes make it more confusing than reading the original language!
What is wrong with me?  I don’t care if I get famous or not so long as my blog is of some use and purpose to the few who appreciate it.  I appreciate my own blog very much.  Makes me proud of how much good food I have eaten…and what a beautiful supermodel I am...hehe!  ;p (dear hater, don't be jealous!) If you want to know how much of a supermodel I am, let's meet up and be friends. You can try and carry me. He he...

My blog is for me to record my own kitchen-ing experiences which is meant for me to read.  It still can be of some help and use for those who need it.  If no one wants to read the blog, then don’t.  I don’t mind being the only one who reads it.  Still am thankful for the 18,000 over page views!  I am doing better than I ever thought I would ever did.  My sisters will read my blog when they need to cook one day.  I know I leave something behind to be read or maybe just stared at during sob-sob stories when I finally die someday.  I do what makes me happy!  If you are not happy, go and buy some chocolates and stuff your mouth with it.  Just put yourself to some good use.  Stop trying very hard to make me miserable because you ain’t gonna!  I am still going to do what I have been doing no matter what!
Before you leave a nasty comment on my blog, ask yourself if it is really necessary.  Be my friend and get to know me.  Don't be mean.

Tilah's Chicken Kurma (Kurma Ayam Tilah)

Hello fellow Cooks!  How was your day yesterday?  My day was good because it was a sunny day! So sunny that I had to squint my eyes while walking on my way to lunch with a colleague yesterday.  It's a nice change after a few days of heavy rain.

Scrambled Eggs (Telur Kocok)

This was breakfast last Saturday.  My favourite.  We were supposed to go to McDonald's for a family breakfast but we had to give it a miss as I wasn't feeling well.  Sometimes, during weekends, we go to McDonald's for breakfast because Sayf likes going there just for the sake of eating in the McDonald's restaurant which he called in his cute three words "Mad-Dog-Nald".  I hope the McDonalds are not very mad!  Hehe! ;p  Sayf is still working on his phonics skills.

Beef in Toasted Coconut Gravy (Daging Kerisik)

This is another recipe which I love.  A favourite in my family.  I jotted this recipe on a piece of paper very long time ago.  I cannot remember the source and ever since I started blogging, the only thing I regretted was that I have many recipes on archive in my computer and jotted down on papers but some of them had no indication of the name of the person from whom I got the recipe or the source from which I got the recipe.  Being young and unmarried then, all I had thought of was to archive or jot down for my own use when I am married and have my own kitchen to cook for my future husband and children.  Never did I thought I would develop an interest to blog about cooking.  Thank you to whoever you are and I am so grateful.

Off the Floor! (Tidak Mencecah Lantai!)

Hehe...how was my title?  Cool right?  It's not JLO's song.  It's MY song.  Off the Floor!

Braised Egg in Toor Dal (Telur Masak Lemak Dal) & Stir Fried Chilli Paste with Anchovies (Sambal Tumis Ikan Bilis)

Ok, so today is yet another recipe sharing day.  Actually it should be plural, recipe with an "s" cos I am sharing two recipes in one post.  Both are favourites in my family.  My beloved mother's recipes.  Both recipes she picked up from her very long time ago employer, who also had the same name as her, Khatijah.  However, her employer has passed on quite some time back and my mother still talks about her and tells us stories during her younger days when she was working.  Her ex-employer was indeed a wonderful and kind lady and a very good cook too.  Good at cooking both Indian and Malay food.  It was from her that my mother picked up good cooking skills and recipes.

Chicken Curry Stew (Stew Ayam Kari)

Hello Cooks!  As you all know, I am an Indian by race.  I also married an Indian man.  Curry has to be my favourite, whether I like it or not.  So, yes, yes, this is again a CURRY recipe!!  Hooray!!  Hehe...but don't worry.  Although it is a curry recipe, it is not VERY CURRY!  This dish happened one day when I was feeling like curry but not so curry.  Don't be confused, this is not a curry advertisement hehe... ;p even though the topic is still somewhat..uh..curry! ;p What I meant was I had wanted to cook chicken soup but in a more curry way.  Or was it chicken curry but in a more soupy way?  Hehe...whatever lah! Haha!

Prawn Curry (Kari Udang)

Hello Cooks!  It is a very lovely rainy Sunday today.  Certainly a weather for lazing around and doing nothing though for some of us (me, especially), we just have to dream on.

Saturday, 26 October 2013

Sardines in Black Pepper Soy Sauce (Sardin Masak Kicap Lada Hitam)

Hello Cooks!!  I know that I have posted this recipe on my page in FB, but since I now have the step by step pictures taken, I should put it up on the blog.  Not everybody is experienced in cooking.  I remembered the time when I first started learning how to cook  at quite a young age.  Things were not as simple as I had thought.  For a person who needs everything to be specified in precise detail, I kept wondering if what I was doing was correct and if I had followed and understood the recipe correctly.

Wednesday, 23 October 2013

Fried Bee Hoon - Chinese style (Bee Hoon Goreng ala Cina)

This was what I fed my family for dinner on Saturday.  I was on a weekend lazy mode and I was sick of eating rice so I thought some thing done in a chop-chop style and can be eaten up in a chop-chop way would be good!  Plus, less dishes to wash for my hardworking kitchen-ing assistant.

Sunday, 20 October 2013

Cocktail Pudding with Cream Milk (Puding Cocktail Berkuah)

I had a request for this recipe from a reader, Sister Norain Tulos.  I actually had it in my archive for what must have been the longest time.  I remember browsing through the various recipes and I saw this particular recipe.  I told myself then that I should give this recipe a try soon enough.  Then a few days later, I got the request.  The reader had definitely jolted my taste bud and the next thing I knew, I was looking for the ingredients at the supermarket.  Thanks to Norain Tulos, for making this request. I love this dessert.

Tomato Pilaf (Nasi Tomato)

Okay, I know it has been days since I posted my last recipe.  Well, I was not able to do much about it as the LCD screen of my mobile phone was cracked.  My heart broke.  The phone was my life.  My only source of snapping my not so great "I am in the mood" photos of great value for your viewing pleasure.  I didn't want to be snapping pictures through a cracked screen so I decided to wait until it was repaired.

Tom Yum Tamarind Fish (Ikan Masak Asam Tom Yum)

Tom Yum Tamarind Fish (Ikan Masak Asam Tom Yum)

Yesterday was quite an agony.  I think I might have sprained a vein somewhere around my left shoulder area.  Over the past few days, the pain was all over the arm, on and off and here and there. After googling, I was scared of an impending heart attack.  Now that the pain has subsided to just a particular area in the left shoulder, I am quite sure I sprained it.  So nope!  It is not a heart attack coming!

Minced Beef Fried Bread Cake (Roti Goreng Daging Cincang)

A fried dish with preserved radish (chai por) and egg just like the Chinese style fried carrot cake substituted with bread and added with minced beef.

It's a long weekend for a start.  For me at least!  I applied for leave and therefore will not be working on the coming Monday and to make it more wonderful, Tuesday is a public holiday due to Eid-ul-Adha or better known as Hari Raya Haji in Singapore. My work week will only start on Wednesday, next week.  Don't be jealous about my long weekend ok! ;p  Time flies and next year will be here before we know it.

Wednesday, 9 October 2013

Masala Beef (Daging Masala)

Beef chunks or slices cooked in a variety of spices and masala to jolt your taste bud. For sure to having you ask for more!

Today, is a "ZIP IT!" day.  Therefore, my mouth is shut.  Good thing that we type with our hands. So I am going to just get to the recipe.

Monday, 7 October 2013

Fish in Spiced Soy Sauce (Ikan Masak Kicap Berempah)

Fish cooked in spiced soy sauce gravy. Definitely Asian, definitely spicy.

Yesterday's cooking session was somehow a chop-chop one.  Our day started very early.  Suhaym was in one of his cranky moods wanting to be carried all the time.  He woke up as early as 6.00 am nowadays.  His constant cries made Sayf the light sleeper, wide awake very early as well. This means I can't go back to sleep after morning prayers.  My kitchen-ing assistant and I have been passing Suhaym back and forth to each other whilst managing our own duties.  Sayf was his usual self, simply just adding on to our job scope in the house.  Going around the house littering and spilling drinks or food here and there and making a fuss whenever he hears the word "no" being uttered and toned with an exclamation mark.

Cream Cracker Layered Cheese Cake (Kek Biskut Lapis Keju)

A delectable no bake cheesecake layered with cream crackers, strawberry syrup and nestum cereal topped with chocolate rice. Simply awesome!

So I bought cream cheese last Friday evening.  I managed to make good use of the rest of the free cream cracker biscuits and did a Cream Cracker Layered Cheesecake.  I found this recipe from a blog belonging to Khairul Abdullah.  Thank you Khairul Abdullah for sharing the recipe and being my inspiration.  I love the way he took his photographs and I like his recipes and cooking tips too.

Hyderabad Dum Chicken (Ayam Dum Hyderabad)

A Hyderabad Chicken Curry cooked by way of steam in a pot. Simply delicious!

My little one is now so cheery and chirpy and I am now a happy mummy!  Naturally, when there is nothing bogging me down, my mood for cooking came back full blast!  Plus, it won't be a chop-chop dish.  I have been wanting to try out this recipe in my archive which I don't know where I had gotten it from.  It was saved on a microsoft word document in the year 1997.  Go figure!  I totally have no idea.  Hyderabad Dum Chicken.  After googling, I realised that there are so many ways of cooking this dish but the one thing that is so common is the use of quite an amount of yogurt in its preparation.  Good to work all those toxic off the stomachs.

Wednesday, 2 October 2013

Fish in Tumeric Gravy (Ikan Tumis Kunyit)

fried fish cooked in tasty turmeric gravy

My ten month old had a very high fever of 39.4 degrees celsius over the weekend.  I was scared to the point of dying!  Just when I had piles of work waiting on my desk in the office and to make matters worse,  I had taken leave on the Friday before, the virus had to go on full attack on Sunday afternoon.  Imagine being torn between wanting to go back to office and clear the crap or staying at home and making sure your precious little one is safe.  The fever was tamed on Tuesday evening.  Yes, it took three days for the temperature to go down and I am just glad my pain was over.

My Younger Sister Hidaya's Engagement

Last Saturday, 28 September 2013, my younger sister got engaged.  It was a very small affair just involving a few close family members.  We had a representative representing us from the future bride's side in discussion with the future groom's side.  The future groom came with a few of his close family members bringing some gifts.  Of course, we had also prepared some gifts in return.

Masala Sardines (Sardin Masala)

sardines cooked in the spicy masala style

I had a request from a reader to share the recipe for Masala Sardines a few days ago.  I think she must have had a crystal ball as that was what I had planned to cook this week.  So I told her that I will post the recipe this week.

Super Easy Recipe Biscuit Butter Kaya Pudding (Resepi Mudah Puding Biskut Butter dan Kaya)

pudding recipe using cream crackers

Ok, so as promised, today I shall talk about my Biscuit Butter Kaya Pudding which I made a few days ago.  Yes, because by the time you finish saying the name (Cream Crackers Butter Kaya Pudding), it is already time for breakfast next morning.  My friend Shahila was telling me that it was a mouthful to pronounce. So I just cut it short!  Biscuit Butter Kaya Pudding!  Shah, at least it is now half mouthful right?

Maidin's Rice in Coconut Cream (Nasi Lemak Maidin) & Khatijah's Fish Sambal (Sambal Ikan Khatijah)

a very unique recipe of nasi lemak, different from the norm

As some of you may have already known through my page on FB, my menu for yesterday was Nasi Lemak Maidin or Maidin's Nasi Lemak.  I have been thinking of my late grandmother a lot lately.  The only way that I can still have a part of her very near me is through this Nasi Lemak dish.

Chicken Soup (Sop Ayam)

chicken soup prepared in the singaporean malay style

Chicken Soup!  Since everyone is still having blocked and runny nose in the family, chicken soup might just be the right choice of food even though I was planning to make beef soup actually.  The change of plans was due to my husband having to work late and I am forced to work a little late in the office too whilst waiting for him to fetch me from work.

Wednesday, 18 September 2013

Chicken in Stir Fried Tomato (Ayam Tumis Tomato)

fried chicken in sour and spicy tomato sauce

Just during the recent Monday, I was still recovering from blocked nose and cough.  I didn't have much appetite but being me, I still wanna eat!  Don't think I'm greedy okay.  I am not.  I just love food a tiny bit more than I love to eat! ;)  No, that's not the same as greedy.
