My Younger Sister Hidaya's Engagement

Last Saturday, 28 September 2013, my younger sister got engaged.  It was a very small affair just involving a few close family members.  We had a representative representing us from the future bride's side in discussion with the future groom's side.  The future groom came with a few of his close family members bringing some gifts.  Of course, we had also prepared some gifts in return.

Both my sister and her fiancé were school mates. Just like a Bollywood movie, they were not in love then. They went separate ways after school. They decided to fall in love after their paths crossed years later. Then they decided to get engaged and wait for their "Build To Order" flat to be ready in three years (or sooner hopefully) before deciding to chain each other for life.

As it was a small affair, about 50 people involved from both sides, my mother had asked me to cook Butter Rice or what we call in Malay "Nasi Minyak" and Tilah's Mum Chicken in Red Gravy or "Ayam Masak Merah Mak Tilah" in Malay.  For ease of reference, those interested in Tilah's Mum Chicken in Red Gravy, can find the recipe here.  My brother in law (my younger sister's husband) can cook very well too.  So he cooked Bengali Beef Curry and my mother cooked a kind of Indian curry called "Dalca" which is basically mixed vegetable curry but sometimes can also be cooked with some meat like chicken, mutton or beef.  Since the function was held at my sister's place, my brother-in-law came over to collect the food once I was done cooking them.

So for those of you who may be wondering, no, I have not started a food catering business.  I may start only when my two boys are more grown up and don't need as much attention from me as they do now.  But yes, I may be able to take small orders for functions of 50 people or less if circumstances permits.

My sister, the future bride.  Isn't she pretty?

My handsome future brother in law, my sister's fiancé.

The female representatives from the future groom's side. The cute and chubby lady with spectacles, is Juliet! My mother! No, Romeo doesn't like to be photographed. He is too handsome. :)

Ok, based on historical and current facts, the one in blue was me quite a few years ago and the one in pink is my sister many years from now.  Hehe...got it!   That is the way our genes operate in the family!  I am sure things will turn out a bit different though once we learn to make time for exercise as much as we make time for food after child birth.
